This is Khan Sir's inspiring success story: how he rose to greatness

As a child, Khan sir aka Faizal Khan faced several financial struggles growing up in Patna, Bihar. Growing up with a housewife mother and a contractor father, Faizal was determined to succeed. Khan aspired to join the Indian army and serve the nation. Despite qualifying for most of the tests, he failed the medical test because of a slight tilt in his hand, making him unfit for the Indian Army. In spite of this slight setback, he maintained a positive attitude. Khan sir was always passionate about academics and teaching. He began his career as a teacher in Patna after graduating from Magadh University.

Khan sir, known as Faizal Khan, was born into a middle-class family in Patna, Bihar, facing financial struggles in his childhood. With aspirations to join the Indian Army, he qualified for most tests but was deemed unfit due to a minor medical issue. Undeterred, he pursued his passion for teaching after graduating from Magadh University. 

In 2010, he established the Khan GS Research Centre to provide quality education to underprivileged students, gaining popularity through his unique teaching style. In 2016, he launched the Khan Academy, offering free online education nationwide. 

His prominence surged in 2019, during the COVID-19 lockdown, when he began teaching online via his YouTube channel, Khan GS Research Centre. Within months, his innovative teaching methods attracted worldwide attention, leading to a blend of offline and online classes post-pandemic. 

By 2021, he introduced an app for students unable to attend in-person classes, and his YouTube channel became the most subscribed educational channel in India, boasting over 23 million subscribers and 2.36 billion views.

Khan sir's success is largely attributed to his dedication to accessible education. Despite facing offers to abandon his free education mission, including a significant sum of rupees 107 crore, he remained committed to supporting financially disadvantaged students, charging only a nominal fee of rupees 200. 

However, his affordable education model posed challenges; worried rivals resorted to violence, including bomb threats aimed at his coaching center. Undeterred by these events, Khan sir continued to champion affordable education, strengthening his resolve to serve students in need.

Khan Sir's success story is marked by controversies and challenges. On April 24, 2021, he attracted criticism from Netizens after sharing a video discussing France-Pakistan relations, which led to accusations of Islamophobia. 

Some doubted his Islamic identity, with claims that he was actually a Hindu named "Amit Singh." This argument intensified when an old photo surfaced of him celebrating the Hindu festival of Raksha Bandhan, prompting him to clarify his stance on YouTube.

Another significant controversy arose in January 2022, when an FIR was filed against him and five other teachers from various private coaching centers, connected to violent protests regarding the Railway Recruitment Board’s NTPC examinations.

Opinions about Khan Sir's teaching methods vary; while many find his classes helpful for UPSC preparation, it is advised to diversify studies across various institutions and resources. He excels at simplifying complex topics, making them more digestible for students. 

However, English-speaking students might struggle due to his Hindi-medium teaching style and resource materials. Despite his humble beginnings, Khan Sir has achieved financial success, reportedly boasting a net worth of around Rs 5 crore, mainly from his coaching center and his YouTube channel, which has 23.3 million subscribers. 

Beyond his teaching career, he is a dedicated philanthropist, having established a "Goshala" in Patna for animal care and built a library for students to access reading materials.
