Brevistay's founder, Prateek Singh, is profiled in this story

When you are on a trip or vacation, paying for a hotel room for five to six hours can really be a drain on your budget. You'd rather spend that money on new experiences or food.

In that regard, Brevistay founders Prattek, Nikhil, and Aditya had an epiphany during a trip to Manali. Like many of us, the trio had not tried to negotiate a contract on their own. As they had to pay the full accommodation fee, they thought there must be a better alternative.

This led to a discussion the next day and they soon realised a gap in the Indian market for such a problem. During their research, Prattek realized that even though the concept was relatively popular in Western countries, there was no solution to the problem itself.

This led to his determination to bring about a change in the hotel industry. Since its inception in 2016, Brevistay has expanded from five cities to over 150 cities in India, managing over 60,000 rooms in over 7,000 hotels. Unlike its competitors, Brevistay has transformed how the hotel industry operates by allowing customers to choose from a 3-hour, 6-hour, or 12-hour stay.

If a traveler is struggling with a delayed flight, layover, etc., they can now book a room for the available hours without paying the full price. According to Tracxn, Brevistay has now raised $381,000 in seed funding from Indian Angel Network and others and has an annual revenue of Rs 5.7 million ($711,000) as of March 31, 2023.

About Prateek Singh Speaking of his background and career, Prateek graduated from Lucknow Public School and went on to do his B.Tech. in Computer Science from Amity University. Prateek is the CEO of Brevisstay and has been leading the company since July 2016.

In his role within the company, he defines the roadmap for the company and coordinates the team efforts to ensure smooth implementation. He coordinates the team efforts, oversees marketing activities, ensures regulatory compliance, and maintains communication with the board of directors.

Prateek will also handle partnerships and run new marketing experiments. Before joining Brevistay, he was a software engineer at Sopra Steria from July 2015 to July 2016, focusing on process improvement and technology consulting. He also completed an internship at Sopra India in 2013 and 2014.

The other founders of Brevistay are Aditya Naithani (CMO), Nikhil Pathak (CTO), Shubham Agarwal (CFO) and Avnish Kumar (COO).Fun fact: After appearing on Shark Tank India, Brevistay followed Anupam Mittal's suggestion to "try a love hotel" and created a prank website called "shaadi-se-pehle.com" on April 1.

The website was designed to look like a genuine booking platform, but once users moved to the payment stage, it turned out to be a hoax. The basic idea behind it was to warn and raise awareness about online scams being perpetrated in India in the name of love hotels.

To our surprise, the prank attracted a large number of visitors (more than 1,500), some of whom expressed interest in collaborating and becoming partners. The curious case of “shaadi-se-pehle.com” is also a great case study of how easy it is to fool people and make them pay upfront.
