The company focuses on providing energy and environmental solutions. Meher joined Thermax as a trainee engineer in August 1990 and took over as president in October 2004. She is the daughter of Indian billionaire businesswoman Anu Aga, former chairman of the company.

The company has a market capitalization of Rs 33,223 crore as of November 3. Meher holds a postgraduate degree in chemical engineering from Imperial College of Science & Technology, London. A year after joining the company, Meher and her husband Pheroz Pudumjee were responsible (in 1991) for turning around a UK subsidiary of Thermax.

After returning to India in September 1996, she was appointed to the board of directors. In January 2001, she became a non-executive member of the Board of Directors. At the end of 2002, she was appointed vice president of the company. During this time, she played an active role in changing Thermax. She assumed the presidency on 5 October 2004, following the retirement of her mother Anu Aga.


In addition to being a businesswoman, Meher also enjoys listening to music, especially Western classical music. She is a member of a choir based in Pune. She lives in Pune with her husband. The duo has two children. His mother Anu Aga, who started working at Thermax in 1985 and took over as CEO in 1996, has a real-time net worth of Rs 22,450 crore, according to Forbes.

It derives its wealth from a majority stake in Thermax. She is the richest woman in India in the field of construction and engineering, according to Forbes India's list of India's 100 richest women. Aga stepped down as president in 2004, paving the way for her daughter to succeed in the position.
