Dr. Usha Nair: Propelling Medical care Limits to Effect Lives Around the world
As a private healthcare professional, Dr. Usha Nair has chosen a life goal to go into end-of-life care, also known as palliative care, as she has personally witnessed the effects, after effects, and suffering of cancer patients, within her own family, friends, and community. Her conviction, that the field of Science of Nutrigenomics is so advanced and ever-dynamically developing, has made her resolute to help cancer and such like patients.
Continuing her work also under the space of Alternative & Complementary Therapies, she’s affirmed by the peace she brings to her patients. It’s the same conviction that led her to present her work at the United Nations CSW66 on the science in relation to SDG3 – Good Health & Wellbeing & the economies of scale of the science to provide the most affordable healthcare, especially for women at less than a $ a day, thereby launching nutrigenomics into a global discussion.
Though Dr. Usha Nair is world-renowned today, with degrees of Ph.D., D.Sc., MBA, PG-DMLT, D.Ac., N.D., B.Sc., and a few more under her belt, she started off as a young girl, scared to go on the road alone and talk to strangers. Raised by her government employee parents, it was never in Dr. Nair’s cards to go into alternative complementary therapies.
She did so through an organization that is now an NGO in special consultation status with UN-ECOSOC and was involved in the promotion and propagation of various modalities of alternative & complementary therapies, the promotion of original lifetime people’s work & research too. She spent 18 years with the organization before her original research case studies in hospital & healthcare administration got her a Ph.D. in original research.
Her knowledge of alternative & complementary therapies only grew.
Naturopathy became a way of life, and she integrated it at home and at the office, although part-time service, and never commercialized her services. She fondly credits her husband as a pillar of support through the years, always encouraging her in her endeavors, be it in mainstream healthcare or in the fields of alternative & complementary therapies.
She was always interested in higher education but felt content with her job and her work with alternative & complementary therapies, so she set it aside. At the age of 35, she took a different path, acquiring a full-time post with Symbiosis in Hospital and Healthcare Administration, on merit.
In Mumbai, she headed Joy Hospital for some time as Hospital Administrator, then started a new clinic franchise from Hyderabad now Apollo Clinic, contributed as HOD Admin with Bhatia Hospital & was GM Operations with a small laparoscopic specialty hospital in Navi Mumbai. A batchmate, who had just started a healthcare finance company (NBFC) offered her a position as the City Head for Mumbai.
She says, this was integral in her transformation from reseller to mainstream entrepreneur, helping her build a personal brand, a registered organization under MSME, and envision a future IPO, which she confirms can be expected leaps and bounds from. Dr. Nair’s had quite a journey, but she’s nowhere near done just yet: currently, she holds the impressive title of the most life-changing Nutrigenomic Wellness Consultant, highly sought after on a global level for her passion and the impact she has on her clients.
Her intensive knowledge of the science of nutrigenomics allows her to provide wellness to all her clients, and as a notable bonus, save them lakhs of medical expenses on Curative Healthcare. Dr. Nair is all about connecting and helping people (both at an individual level and a corporate level) and her goal is to become a global name as a Nutrigenomic Wellness Consultant and touch over 11,000 lives.
