There are large numbers of Indian students who dream of studying abroad. While some people lack sufficient funds, others lack appropriate expertise. Taking note of this, Leverage Edu came into existence to help students realize their dreams.

Leverage Edu is one of India’s fastest-growing organizations, which is on a mission to assist students in accomplishing their aspirations. From professional career advice to the introduction of India’s largest scholarship at Rs. 5 crores, Leverage Edu is making learning abroad a lot easier for students. Founded by Akshay Chaturvedi in 2015, the organization is a platform for connecting students with mentors. Draper University’s business venture initiative was the place where it all began.

Akshay joined Babajob.com, India’s largest blue, and gray collar marketplace, in December 2015. Akshay developed successful deals/partnerships with Uber, Paytm, Microsoft, Amazon, India Post, the Government of Karnataka, PokemonGo, and others as the company’s Head of Partnerships. In less than a year, he rose through the ranks of the company’s senior leadership team to become one of its seven members.

Akshay was born and brought up in New Delhi, where he studied at Springdale's School and served as the school’s Sports Captain. In 2008, he enrolled in Delhi University’s Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce to pursue a B.Com (Honors). During this period, he was also a member of AIESEC, headed the India operations of a Lithuania-based consulting business at the age of 19, founded an events/retail company (titled Estoneage), and worked with private equity, non-profit, and political organizations.

Akshay’s entrepreneurial venture:

Akshay’s first entrepreneurial venture was at the age of 8, inspired by the membership club. But he lived in the government colony, Enid Blyton’s Famous Five and Secret Seven series, where he subscribed to other kids/teens to play his board games, read comics, evening carts See, and much more. Post that, he tried his hands at the side gig again at the age of 18 while organizing farewell/welcoming events for schools and colleges in Delhi.

Before commencing his MBA, Akshay worked as an Analyst in KPMG’s Hedge Fund Accounting unit, which was his first job. He subsequently went on to work for Ernst & Young in their Transfer Pricing department for the following three years. Rising through the ranks to become a Technology & Telecom Consultant, serving clients such as Nortel, Nokia, Siemens, Vodafone, and others.

Following his stint at Ernst & Young, Akshay joined the Bhartiya Janta Party’s General Assembly Elections team. Following his internship, Akshay was offered admission to two prestigious programs: ISB and Oxford. In 2014, he enrolled in the PGP program at the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. Where he also ran for student office and was elected to the Student Board as a Director.

After being chosen as the only Indian in that cohort for a DraperU scholarship, Akshay moved to the United States immediately after completing his MBA at ISB. He received several awards at Draper University, including first place in a well-known hackathon. Which served as the catalyst for Leverage’s transformation from a pure-play mentorship marketplace to one that would focus on online education.

Following his return from the United States, Akshay decided to join Snap deal’s Home business. Leverage Edu, his professional consulting firm, is on schedule to generate $10 million in revenue in FY20. After securing $3.5 million from Blume Ventures and DSG Consumer Partners in two financing rounds.

Leverage Edu uses cutting-edge technology and helps the students to find the course that is suitable for them with the help of artificial intelligence. Akshay is determined to help and make possible the dreams of millions of students to study abroad.
