Ajay Bijli, an Indian businessman, made a fortune for himself by erecting the PVR Playhouses chain in India. He's the president of PVR Ltd., headquartered in Gurgaon, which was innovated in 1997. Moment, PVR Cinemas is one of the largest legion cinema chains in India, operating in about 72 metropolises across India and Sri Lanka. Let us read his success story.


EARLY LIFE

Ajay Bijli was born on 9 February 1967 in New Delhi, India. He's the third child of Krishan Mohan Bijli (Proprietor of Amritsar Transport Co.). Bijli married Selena, his high academy mate, in April 1990. He's now a father of three – AmeerNiharikaNeha. Talking about his education, he completed Bachelor’s in Arts Honors (Commerce) at Hindu College (Delhi).

Also, he pursued Proprietor/ President Management at Harvard Business School. In his earlier interviews, he spoke about his interest in watching pictures show after show, along with his relatives.

CAREER BEFORE PVR

After his scale, Ajay Bijli joined his father’s transportation business. And latterly, he continued to help his father at Priya Theatre in Delhi, possessed by them. In 1991, they refashioned the theater with a new projector, Dolby sound system, and comfortable seats. Latterly, in 1994, after his father’s death, a fire accident broke out at their storehouse, leading to a huge loss.

After settling all the checks for people whose goods got destroyed in the fire, he shifted his focus to Priya Theatre. He was introduced to an Australian product house Village Roadshow and banded with them to expand their business in India. That's how PVR – Priya Village Roadshow started. GROWTH AND SUCCESS PVR

Came India’s first legion theater which was a reconstruction of Anupam cinema. It was a great success and garnered lots of plutocrats. But, in 2001, after the9/11 attacks, his Australian mates decided to move out of India. This didn't let him down. His passion made him more focused on expanding the business. He also conducted an IPO to fund his brand and raised about. 100 crores. A couple of times latterly, he came the MD of Cinema.

Appointed as a board member in iPic Entertainment, in 2017. Latterly, he abnegated from the post in 2018. Supposedly, PVR acquired71.6 stakes in SPI Playhouses to increase their defenses.

OTHER Workshop AND ACHIEVEMENTS

Besides managing the PVR chain, Bijli produced a many Bollywood flicks like Taare Zameen Par and Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. Only a many pictures entered profit at the Box office, making him stay focused on his core business.

He won the" International Exhibitor of the time” award at the 2017 Cine Asia Awards, Hong Kong. His name appeared in the Panama Papers for retaining certain coastal companies. Bijli won the title of "Business Icon of the time” by Indy wood Film Market. He took home the" Utmost Respected Multiplex Professional of the Time” award presented by CMO Asia’s Multiplex Excellence.

NAVIGATING THROUGH COVID

In 2020, Covid-19 Epidemic hit numerous businesses around the world, including movie halls. Despite this extremity, Bijli was confident enough that people would soon come back to theaters. In one of the interviews, he has said that one must be positive, especially when he's the leader of the association. Also, he thanked all his investors and platoon members for standing with him on business during the extremity.
