The Truth About KFC SUCCESS STORY

"It's never too late to start something new to do all these things you wanted to do". Sanders learned to cook at the age of 7. In July 1940 he developed his "original recipe", which consists of 11 herbs and spices. The same recipe is used for the restaurant chain KFC. KFC's headquarters were founded in 1959 in Louisville, Kentucky. In 1952, Sanders first gave his Kentucky Fried Chicken secret recipe to Pete Herman of South Salt Lake, Utah, who runs one of the largest restaurants in town.

The franchise concept was successful. The success of Pete Herman, several other restaurant owners franchisees the concept and paid Sanders $0.04 per chicken. Sanders visited eligible restaurants in the United States to offer the franchise after selling his South Salt Lake restaurant due to new traffic regulations.

After the North Corbin site closed, Sanders and his wife Claudia opened a new restaurant and corporate headquarters in Shelbyville in 1959. He often slept in the back of his car while visiting restaurants to offer the franchise when the staff liked their chicken. At some point, the franchise began visiting Colonel Sanders. He ran the company and his wife Claudia mixed and shipped the spices to restaurants. The focus of the franchise was on city demand; KFC was one of the first fast food chains to expand internationally and opened stores in Canada in the mid-1960s and later in the UK, Mexico and Jamaica, "It's Finger Licking 'Good" set in 1963. Overwhelmed by the company's growth, the sold the elder Colonel Sanders passed the company to John Y Brown Jr. and Jack C. Massey in 1964.

Colonel Sanders' "original recipe" is the KFC USP. It is the main factory behind the KFC success story. No other fast food company has the unique chicken flavor that KFC does.
